Celebration of 9th National Handloom Day

The 9th National Handloom Day was commemorated with fervor at the Common Facility Centre, Thongju Part-II, as part of the Mega Handloom Cluster initiative. Esteemed personalities graced the event, including Professor N. Raghumani Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University, who attended as the Chief Guest. Shri Konsam Ibomcha, a Padma Shri Awardee known for his contributions to Fading Crafts, and Smt. G. Shanti Devi, a Shilpa Guru Awardee, were present as Guests of Honor. S. Bhubol, President of Shintha Handloom and Handicrafts, also participated in the celebration.

The function was made possible through the sponsorship of the Directorate of Handloom and Textile and was meticulously organized by the dedicated efforts of Arti Naorem, the Cluster Development Executive, and Anuradha Rajkumar, the Textile Designer of the Mega Handloom Cluster. Their hard work ensured that the event was a resounding success, shining a spotlight on the rich heritage and skilled craftsmanship of the handloom industry.
