Celebration of the 10th National Handloom under Mega Handloom Cluster, Imphal East.

The Office of District Handlooms and Textiles, Imphal East, organized the 10th National Handloom Day across multiple assembly constituencies within the district under the Mega Handloom Cluster with sponsorship from the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Manipur. The event was a celebration of the rich tradition of handloom weaving, aimed at promoting and supporting local weavers by showcasing their skills and dedication to preserving this invaluable craft.

National Handloom Day serves to acknowledge the crucial role of weavers in preserving India’s cultural and traditional heritage, while also working to provide greater recognition and financial stability for craftspeople and weavers. The official theme for National Handloom Day 2024, “Weaving Sustainable Futures,” highlights the importance of sustainability in the future of handloom weaving.
